Hansjoerg Borutta, the global head of all alternatives products for UBS Wealth Management and branch banking, has been confirmed as a key speaker for the forthcoming FT Business private banking summit in Geneva. As one of Europe’s leading buyers of hedge funds, Mr Borutta will address the use of alternatives for private client portfolios, at the one-day event to be held at the Hotel Beau-Rivage on 7 November. His talk will include details on how to arrive at the correct alternatives allocation, which assets to include and the practicalities of product construction. The conference, organised by PWM and The Banker magazine, and sponsored by investment banks BNP Paribas and Barclays Capital, will be chaired by Eric Sarasin. Mr Sarasin is head of private and institutional clients at Bank Sarasin, and a well known member of the Basle-based Sarasin private banking dynasty. Other leading private banks, including Swiss leaders Credit Suisse and Julius Baer, France’s Société Générale, Coutts of the UK, Germany’s Sal. Oppenheim and Belgium’s KBC, will also be represented. One of the highlights is expected to be an afternoon panel debate on the validity of structured products, chaired by Abbey’s controversial chief investment officer James Bevan. There will also be an opportunity to attend afternoon streams on structured products or family office issues. As well as asset allocation, business development, investment and product themes, speakers will address recruitment and retention of key staff. There are still complimentary places available to PWM readers, including private and retail bankers, family offices, discretionary wealth managers, brokers, plus advisers and consultants to wealthy individuals and families.
